Coffee productivity is improved by ecosystem services, including pollination. Without pollination by bees, coffee farmers would see a 25% drop in crop yields (Munyuli 2014). However, knowledge and information on coffee pollinating insects are very limited in Indonesia. Building this knowledge and database of information on coffee pollinators is urgent since the area of pollinator-dependent crops is steadily increasing.
A study of the economic value of coffee pollinators in various types of ecosystems across Indonesia is needed. Revealing the importance of pollinating services in monetary terms may be useful since human decision-making is mostly driven by financial considerations.
Under the TEEBAgrifood Indonesia research, funded by UNEP, MREE (ESL) lectures and students support the IPB university researchers to conduct economic valuation of pollination services on coffee agroforestry in Indonesia. Data were collected through structural surveys from 120 coffee farmers. @nuraulia.asyifa and @sahaya.azzahra conducted surveys to robusta coffee farmers in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung, and @sallifaa and @apry.anti conducted surveys to arabica coffee farmers in Bandung regency, West java.
