Department of ESL Celebrates Student Achievements at the International Summer Course 2025 and Global Competitions

Department of ESL, IPB successfully organized the International Summer Course (ISC) 2025 under the theme “Ecotourism, Nature Conservation, and Food Security”, held from 28 July to 22 November 2025. This long-term international program attracted 106 participants from 22 countries, reflecting strong global interest in sustainability-oriented education. Of the total participants, 60 were international students, creating a dynamic and multicultural academic environment that fostered cross-cultural exchange and global collaboration.

As part of the International Summer Course 2025, the Department also conducted a series of four international competitions designed to strengthen participants’ academic, creative, and communication skills while deepening their understanding of environmental and food security issues. These competitions served as important platforms for students to express ideas, research findings, and perspectives on sustainability challenges from interdisciplinary and global viewpoints.

The ESL IPB International Poster Competition 2025, held on 28–31 July 2025, aimed to encourage students to communicate scientific and policy-related ideas on ecotourism, conservation, and food security in a concise and visually engaging format. This was followed by the ESL IPB International Learning Journal Competition 2025 on 4–7 August 2025, which focused on enhancing students’ academic writing skills and critical reflection through structured learning journals based on their participation in the summer course. Meanwhile, the ESL IPB International Photography Competition 2025, conducted on 11–14 August 2025, sought to capture meaningful visual narratives of nature, culture, and sustainability, highlighting the power of photography as a medium for environmental awareness. The competition series concluded with the ESL IPB International Short Essay Competition 2025 on 18–21 August 2025, which aimed to sharpen analytical thinking and argumentative writing by inviting participants to propose innovative ideas and solutions related to sustainable development themes.

These competitions yielded outstanding achievements for the Department. A total of 11 students from the ESL Department successfully earned awards across the various categories, demonstrating both academic excellence and creative capacity at the international level. The award-winning students were Erlinda Rachmaputri, Ridwan Rey Antonio, Nesya Cahya Putri, Afifah Alzahra Ramadhani, Anisa Nabhan Hanip, Nanda Alifya N.P., Alida Putri Dwiyanti, Muhammad Azzam Alauddin, Rida Awaliah, Maleeka Ayesha Nugroho, and Dewi Jasmine Abyani Maulana.

Overall, the International Summer Course 2025 and its accompanying competitions not only strengthened the Department’s international engagement but also affirmed its commitment to developing globally competitive students who are capable of addressing critical issues in ecotourism, nature conservation, and food security through academic rigor and creative innovation.
